A SANTORINI WEDDING AT SKAROS ROCK IN GREECE — WEDDING MAGAZINE DESIGN

The Coffee Table Book designed a wedding magazine for Rachel & Chris’s destination wedding at Skaros Rock in Santorini, Greece. Rachel & Chris flew from the United States to Greece for their special day.

Wedding Magazine Cover Design - Santorini Wedding at Skaros Rock Greece

“Skaros was considered the most important of Santorini’s five castle fortresses. The rock was inhabited in medieval times, because the fortress constructed there offered protection from pirates.”

Trip Advisor: Skaros Rock

When you learn the history of Skaros Rock and the epic climb involved, let alone in a wedding dress and not trying to get all sweaty, getting to the top to get married was quite the feet and it just shows the determination and love these two have for one another. It was an absolute pleasure creating this wonderful keepsake for them.

They chose the 100 page edition of the Wedding Magazine to allow for all their epic location shoot photos around Santorini.

During the design process, we got to take a virtual geographical tour around Greece learning about the various cities where they had their photo location shoots including their ceremony and reception.

We have selected only a portion of the page layouts from their Santorini wedding magazine design to share because simply there are way too many and this blog would be super long. But here are some of our favourite page spreads and moments from Rachel & Chris’s Greece wedding.

We separated the different photo locations around Greece with title pages to help navigate the reader as to what location around Santorini the couple were at.

Rachel saw we had used a map in another wedding magazine design and asked us to include a map of Santorini for her.

They had photos in several locations around Santorini and we thought it was a great idea.

When sharing their wedding day memories with loved ones, they can easily refer to the map to give reference to where all the locations were.

Accommodation in Firostefani for their Greece Destination Wedding

The couples accommodation for their wedding in Santorini was at the Dana Villas & Infinity Suites in Firostefani. The Dana Villas & Infinity Suites is a luxury hotel hanging off the cliff of the caldera.

Firostefani is considered a primary location with close proximity to Fira, Undoubtedly, the views from this part of Santorini are spectacular, allowing visitors to admire another perspective of the volcano. One can enjoy the magnificent sight of Fira itself and the breathtaking sunset in the evening. The name Firostefani is the compound of “Fira” and “Stefani” the Greek word for the crown and indicates its location on the edge of the region.

Skaros Rock in Santorini is a rocky headland that protrudes out to the azure-blue Aegean Sea. It is located in front of the village of Imerovigli. In the olden days, a majestic castle was located here and used to be the principal place of the Christian congregation in Santorini until the beginning of the 1800s. Unfortunately, the castle was completely ruined during an earthquake in the 19th century. All that remains today are remnants. Legend has it that the medieval castle of Skaros was never conquered during its long 600 years of existence. Skaros used to be the capital of Santorini till the 18th century. Later, Fira became the capital due to its proximity and easy accessibility to the sea. Despite that, Skaros retains its old-world charms and has plenty to offer in terms of the scenic beauty of the surrounding area.”

Imerovigli is an Idyllic Location for your Santorini Wedding Photo Shoot

Imerovigli in Santorini is a picturesque village situated in the center-west part of Santorini, only 3.5 km away from the center of Fira town, the island’s capital. It also abstains just 1 km from Firostefani village.

Geographically, it comprises a continuation of Fira and is considered one of the most beautiful balconies of the Aegean. Due to its location above a cliff, it provides its guests with breathtaking views of the sea, as well as the caldera and the volcano.

In fact, the name Imerovigli originates from the word vigla, which means “viewpoint”, since the location allowed villagers to see the pirate ships approaching during the old times.

Nowadays, this caldera village is one of the top locations to visit in Santorini.

The village is an excellent example of Cycladic architecture, with narrow alleys, whitewashed houses built on the cliff’s edge, romantic sunsets, and terrific hidden spots to discover.

Imerovigli looks exactly as a Santorini village should: iconic whitewashed buildings with sapphire domes, narrow crisscrossing walking paths, epic sunsets.”

Taverna Romantica is in Firostefani, Greece. Some frefreshments after saying I-do at Skaros Rock.

After relaxing back at the Dana Suites & Infinity Villas, it was time to head out into Imerovigli for some fun photos to celebrate the special day. Among all the white villas were some brightly coloured doorways that are super photogenic as backdrops to the fun personalities we see in Rachel & Chris.
